The sixth volume of the journal Tolkien Studies has just been published. As always it contains a great sel
ection of scholarly articles, shorter notes and book reviews on many different aspects of Tolkien’s creativity. The leading article is a very insightful discussion of Tolkien as a literary crtaftsman by John D. Rateliff. The journal also includes a previously unpublished note by J.R.R. Tolkien on “Fate and Free Will”, edited by Carl Hostetter. In the same volume Thomas Honegger has reviewed my recently published book Tolkien, Race and Cultural History: From Fairies to Hobbits.
